Tea Room
"The best carrot cake......in the world!"
"Yorkshire may have "Betty's",
but we have
The Gincase! .." Mrs C
The Gincase:
One of the places to eat and drink in Cumbria - the Lake District
The licensed Tearoom is to be found in the actual Gincase building, where horses would have ground the corn by walking round in a circle, turning the grindstones and therefore crushing the corn, which would have fed the farm animals. Once inside you will see the cooking range dated 1760 and many other interesting items that would have been used on the farm in times past.
Here you will find a large choice of delicious home baking, all made on the premises using traditional recipes and local produce. Try the Tattie Pot, Cumberland sausage, or Solway shrimps, or a piece of Egremont Chocolate Cake or Cumberland Courting Cake, for example.
Morning Coffees, Hot and Cold Lunches and Afternoon Teas are all here waiting to be enjoyed. On warmer days you can sit and eat, possibly with a glass of wine or beer in our orchard garden and enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful unspoilt area.
Just relax and enjoy.
